How we work

Where our numbers come from

Every figure we publish is traceable to one of two places: a manufacturer’s own published specification, or a third-party rating platform. Each page lists its sources with a retrieval date, so you can check any claim yourself.

When a manufacturer makes a performance claim, we label it as their claim and name the comparator where one exists. A tire quoted as “34% quieter” is quieter than something specific, and we tell you what.

What we do not do

We do not run first-hand testing. Not yet. Until we do, nothing on this site is presented as our own measurement, and we will not describe a tire as though we have driven it.

We do not fill gaps from memory. Where a manufacturer publishes nothing, the page says so. A blank cell in one of our tables is a gap in the public record, not a low score.

We do not rank on data we don’t have. Several pages here decline to name a winner, because the two products publish different metrics and nobody has measured them against each other. Inventing a ranking would be easy and would make the page worse.

How we’re paid

We earn affiliate commission when readers buy through some of the links on this site. That relationship is disclosed on every page carrying such a link.

Commission plays no part in which tires appear, what we say about them, or the order they are listed. No vendor can buy placement, inclusion or a better verdict, and no vendor sees a page before it is published.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to fix it and say that we did. Corrections are published on the page with the date, not quietly edited out.

Send the page, the claim you’re disputing and any supporting source. Manufacturer corrections about your own product are welcome on the same terms as anyone else’s.

Where this goes next

The intention is to move from compiled data to first-hand testing on the tires that matter most, and to publish the test protocol before running it — so results can be checked rather than taken on trust.

Until then, this site is a careful reading of the public record. That is a genuinely useful thing, and it is a smaller claim than most sites in this category make.
