What BFGoodrich publishes
Percentage improvements measured against its own predecessor: 5% better mud traction, 8% better traction on rock and slick surfaces, and sidewalls it describes as 27 percent tougher.
What it does not publish
No ply count. No noise figure. No mileage warranty. No three-peak mountain snowflake rating.

What BFGoodrich does not publish
BFGoodrich does not publish a ply count for the KM3 anywhere we have found. Falken, by contrast, publishes three-ply DURASPEC construction with two high ply turn-ups for the Wildpeak M/T. That is a specification a buyer can hold a manufacturer to; a percentage improvement over an earlier tire is not.
There is also no published noise figure, no mileage warranty, and no three-peak mountain snowflake certification. Light-truck-sized tires are exempt from UTQG, so the absence of a treadwear grade is normal rather than an omission. Sidewall plies and ply rating covers why the distinction matters.
Sources disagree on the load rating
In LT285/70R17 the published rating depends on where you look. Tire Rack and SimpleTire list 126/123Q carrying 3,750 lb. 4 Wheel Parts, OnlineTires and tiresize — all citing BFGoodrich article number 53313 — list 121/118Q at 3,195 lb.
The lower figure matches the industry standard for LT285/70R17 Load Range E and matches every competitor in the size, so that is the figure used here. The gap is 555 lb per tire. If you are buying to a specific axle load, read the sidewall of the tire in front of you rather than any spec table, including this one. More cases of this in what the spec sheets get wrong.
