Falken Wildpeak M/T

Falken’s mud-terrain, and the one that publishes the most about how its casing is actually built. It is also sold in two genuinely different load ranges under the same nominal size.

In short

What it is

A mud-terrain offered in both Load Range C and Load Range E in the same nominal size — a distinction worth checking before you buy.

What Falken publishes

Three-ply DURASPEC sidewall construction with two high ply turn-ups. That is a construction specification a buyer can hold the manufacturer to, rather than a percentage improvement over an earlier tire.

What it does not publish

No noise figure with a stated baseline. No warranty term we could locate. No 3PMSF certification.

Tracked price

$400.00 per tire in LT285/70R17, read 11 September 2026.

Published specifications

Figures below are either stated by the manufacturer or carried by specification listings, with the source named on each row. Where nothing is published the row says so, rather than being left blank or filled from a neighbouring size. Matched-size figures for all six tracked tires are in the specification database.

The load range trap in this size

Falken offers LT285/70R17 in Load Range C as well as E, and the two are genuinely different tires: 116/113Q against 121/118Q, 18/32″ against 20/32″, 61.3 lb against 63.3 lb, and 2,755 lb at 50 psi against 3,195 lb at 80 psi.

A buyer who wanted the E casing and bought from a listing showing only the size will be short 440 lb per corner. Check the part number, not the size. Load range explained covers what the letters actually commit a manufacturer to.

What is not published

Falken states that the tread pattern reduces road hum compared with older mud-terrain designs, but publishes no baseline and no measured figure, so it cannot be placed on a scale against Nitto’s percentages. How loud are mud tires sets out why none of these numbers are comparable.

A retailer weight discrepancy is documented: one database lists the Wildpeak at 51.6 lb where Falken and tiresize both say 63.3 lb. See what the spec sheets get wrong.

Across retailers on 10 September 2026 the same tire ranged from $303.96 to $400.00 on the same day. Stepping from 35×12.50R17 to 37×12.50R17 adds 2.2 lb per tire on the tiresize figures (79.6 lb to 81.8 lb) — the smallest jump of the five tires listed in both sizes.
